The Best of Little Italy: Food Edition

There are A LOT of things to love about Little Italy San Diego. The delicious food is definitely at the top of the list. San Diego Magazine recently released its annual Best Restaurants issue, featuring reader and food critic picks for the best places and dishes in America’s Finest City, in 63 different categories. It was no surprise to us that Little Italy made the list more than once.

Whether you’re coming to visit San Diego or already call it home, put these eateries on your food bucket list. You can thank us later.

Juniper & Ivy

Calling all foodies! Juniper & Ivy was chosen by critic Troy Johnson as San Diego’s RESTAURANT OF THE YEAR. Acclaimed chef Richard Blais, who you may know from Bravo’s hit television show Top Chef, has outdone himself with a menu featuring “Refined American Food with Left Coast Edge.” Try the Carne cruda asada with raw beef cubes, Cotija cheese, jalapeño & fried quail eggs on toast.

Napizza

We’re proud to be neighbors with Napizza, which was the Readers’ Pick for Best Pizza in San Diego. Experience the authentic Roman tradition of pizza-making with unique slices such as the Truffle Porcini and Pollo e Pesto. Gluten-free and vegan pizzas are available. Try the locally-sourced salads, focaccia panini, homemade vegan soups & sweet treats (we’re BIG fans of the Tiramisu). The fish is wild caught, never farm-raised, and all of the proteins (even the pepperoni) are hormone and antibiotic free.

Extraordinary Desserts

The name says it all! Extraordinary Desserts was the critic’s and readers’ pick for Best Desserts in San Diego. The menu changes daily and features homemade tortes, fruit tarts, cookies, creme brulee, cobbler, bread pudding, mousses and ice creams. Try them all…seriously. We can’t pick just one.

Little Italy was voted THE BEST FOOD NEIGHBORHOOD IN SAN DIEGO! And there’s more…It’s getting even better this year. Read San Diego Magazine’s coverage of what’s coming next.
