The biggest perk to staying with us is that we have the best darn location in all of Little Italy San Diego.  What does this mean for you exactly? That means you don’t need a car to have a pretty awesome stay. It’s not unusual for our guests to roll out of bed, grab a cappuccino downstairs, then head out for a day of fun – all without car.

Staying with us on a Friday night? Well, lucky you. That means you’ll wake up the next morning to one of San Diego’s most popular farmers markets, Il Mercato. Just one block down from us on Cedar, you’ll mingle with the locals, taste locally grown fruits and veggies, and experience what makes San Diego such a healthy city.

The newest FREE place to splash and play also sports a waterview!  The new Waterfront Park has massive, open grassy areas; an expansive interactive fountain that you can splash around in, gardens and a modern playground. Just a few blocks from us, this park is the perfect place for a picnic, people-watching, jogging, getting your feet wet, and sunbathing.

USSMidwayUSS Midway Museum – 7 blocks away
Step aboard an actual naval aircraft carrier to get a glimpse into the life of a Navy shipman and explore dozens of historic aircraft on the top deck. Docked at Navy Pier on the Embarcadero, USS Midway Museum is a grand attraction in San Diego Bay and one of the most popular places to visit. Many of its volunteer docents actually served on the ship, making it a visit to living history!

We love the floating history in San Diego waters, especially the bayfront collection of historic sailing vessels of the Maritime Museum of San Diego.  Their awesome collection includes the world’s oldest merchant sailing vessel still in operation and a replica of an 18th century Royal Navy frigate, which was featured in the Pirates of Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. You’ll also see historic steam yachts and Russian submarines.

Home to cutting-edge, contemporary art pieces, this museum if the second location of MCASD (the other location is located on the cliffs of La Jolla) and features thousands of work by emerging artists and under-recognized, mid-career artists, as well as by major figures in international contemporary art.

Fun Ways To Get Around

TrolleySan Diego Trolley – 1 block away
San Diego’s signature red trolley is one of the most convenient ways to get around town. Hop on it from the Little Italy stop and take it to Old Town, Fashion Valley Shopping Center, San Diego State University, Gaslamp Quarter, Seaport Village or the San Diego Convention Center.

Buy one ticket and ride this fun hop-on/hop-off tour to some of San Diego’s must-sees such as Balboa Park, San Diego Zoo, Coronado, Seaport Village, and the USS Midway Museum. Feeling lazy? Stay on board for the full two-hour narrated tour and get dropped off back at the Little Italy stop.


CoronadoFerrySan Diego/Coronado Ferry – 7 blocks away
Take a relaxing 13-minute cruise across San Diego Bay to Coronado, a beautiful ‘island’ city of cute shops, restaurants, cafes and the legendary Hotel del Coronado. The ferry starts at the end of Broadway and takes you to the Coronado Ferry Landing Marketplace, a charming bayside shopping and dining center that has some of the best views of downtown San Diego that you’ll ever see.


Go Cars San DiegoGoCar Tours – 2 blocks away
While you won’t move very fast, you’ll definitely get a lot of stares and looks of envy when you ride a GoCar. This cool fleet of three-wheel mini-cars were designed for visitors wanting to escape tour buses. Up to two people can jump into these open, miniature vehicles and enjoy a GPS-guided audio tour highlighting 100 San Diego sites.
